Agricorp is looking for an experienced IBM Cognos developer (Senior .NET Programmer Analyst) to join the Development Services Group (DSG) in the Information & Technology Services (ITS) division. This position will be a key member of the development team that develop and supports variety of Cognos reports and packages and participate in corporate initiatives and projects across Agricorp.

The Role

The Senior IBM Cognos developer will work with the Data warehouse and Reporting team within the ITS Development Services Group. As the Senior Cognos developer, your primary role is to support the development and production support of Cognos reports and Packages for different business products. In this position, the resource will participate in the requirements review, design, data modelling, script development, testing and implementation and system analysis of complex processes in support of day-to-day operational service requests. You will also address production issues and participate in the delivery of new solutions.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide recommendations for the selection and implementation of new features, from translating complex requirements to solution and product
  • Build complex COGNOS reports and Packages
  • Perform COGNOS administration tasks as required
  • Resolve technical and performance issues related to COGNOS
  • Analyze and verify report results from different sources
  • Work as advisor to overall project design, development, and deployment
  • Define clear performance measurement and provide support to quality assurance team
  • Produce related system and end user documentation.
  • Provide end user training & support as require
  • Participate in addressing production operational requests and production issues as required
  • Work with the DSG team to ensure quality of the deliverables through completion of unit testing and integration testing of assigned tasks
  • Support and collaborate with the Test Services team
  • Partner with business analysts and business users to create training materials and documentation as required

Qualifications

  • B. Sc. or Diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years experience with Cognos studio and Framework manager version 10 or higher (Agricorp is using Version 11)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience using Oracle Database 11g or later
  • Hands on experience in developing complex SQL queries and using tools such as Toad or Oracle PL/SQL developer
  • Proficiency with IBM COGNOS report authoring, development and maintenance of Cognos complex packages
  • Thorough knowledge of both relational and dimensional data modeling
  • Clear understanding of data warehouse concepts
  • Able to resolve technical and performance issues related to Cognos
  • Work experience in an Agile environment and using Jira would be asset
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong initiative with the ability to find ways to improve solutions, systems and processes in a timely manner
  • Proven communication skills with both internal team members and external business stakeholders
  • Cognos BI Certifications will be an asset but not required
  • Experience using tools for day-to-day system development activities, such as Team Foundation Server (TFS) or JIRA
  • Experience in production support with strong analytical skills to identify and address production issue
