We are looking for a driven, energetic, and creative person who will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to support wish granting at the regional level and coordinating the wish granting process across the region. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and continual execution of Make-A-Wish Canada’s Mission Delivery program, including on the ground wish delivery, coordination of volunteers (and other MAW staff) for the execution of wishes, and coaching/development of mission staff. Additionally, this position is also responsible for pro-actively building and maintaining relationships with key mission delivery partners.This role is located in theDartmouth, Nova Scotiaand is a full-time, permanent, hybridposition.☆ What You Will Do
  • As a key member of the Mission Leadership Team, works in collaboration with the Regional Vice President and Director, Mission Shared Services to develop and execute short and long-term goals and strategic plans for wish granting ensuring management of completed wishes, wish family engagement opportunities and awareness.
  • Provides ongoing coaching, support, mentorship, development training opportunities and goal setting for field mission staff (and volunteers, as applicable) within the region. This includes providing specialized counsel to staff in support of complex problem solving and decision-making and, ensuring that mission delivery staff are provided with the necessary tools, resources and support to execute on their responsibilities.
  • Provides support to the Director, Mission Shared Services on the development of wish policies, decision-making related to complex wish scenarios, and execution of wish granting activities.
  • In collaboration with the Director, Mission Shared Services and Regional Vice President, manages all expenses to the approved national wish granting budget making efforts to minimize cash expenses and reduce administrative and fundraising ratios wherever possible.
  • Collaborates with development, volunteer engagement, and brand/marketing teams to assist with development and/or coordination of content for wish stories, coordination of wish families for fundraising and partnership opportunities and assists with ongoing engagement opportunities for wish families.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director, Mission Shared Services to plan regular national mission delivery meetings and actively participates in and plays a lead role in leading these meetings.
  • Promotes an environment that encourages initiative, continuous improvement and learning and the generation of new and innovative ideas.
  • Provides support and guidance to field staff in their planning and delivery/execution of wishes.
  • Researches, plans, coordinates and executes wishes for eligible wish children; conducts ongoing follow-up with Wish Families, ensuring the integrity of all wishes is met and that wishes are delivered in a timely manner, in compliance with wish policies.
  • Completes all administrative and data management tasks associated with individual wishes in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the protection of privacy and confidentiality of wish children and their families.
  • Works in compliance with the provisions of The Occupational Health & Safety Act in the applicable province of employment and its regulations, and complies with the Foundation’s Health & Safety Policy.

Staff Management Accountabilities
  • Recruits, engages and retains qualified employees to meet business priorities.
  • Provides support and direction in the development, alignment and accomplishment of objectives through on-going performance feedback, recognition and coaching.
  • Provides a safe and healthy work environment for team members and relevant stakeholders. Ensures they work in compliance with The Occupational Health & Safety Act in applicable province of employment, its regulations, and the Foundation’s Health & Safety Policy.
Financial Accountabilities
  • Monitors department adherence to financial policies and controls. Determines expense projections as part of the budgeting and forecasting process. Authorizes expenditures within approved guidelines. Monitors expenditures against budget and forecast and initiates appropriate remedial activity as required.
☆ What You Bring
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 5 years of experience in the not-for-profit or charitable sectors.
  • 5 years of experience in a mission/management role.
  • Previous experience providing leadership and coaching to others.
  • Previous experience working under pressure, with high volume workload, multiple demands and changing priorities.
  • Strong administrative and data management skills, high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate an affinity for relationship management, a persuasive communicator with strong presentation skills.
  • Bilingualism considered an asset (French and English).
  • An understanding of basic medical terminology related to childhood illness would be an asset.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and related search engines.
  • Qualified internal candidates with at least 1 year of service at MAWC are welcome to apply.

☆ Your Work Environment
    • Hybrid work environment, both office and remote environment, with occasional requirements to work outside of regular office hours
    • Access to a reliable form of transportation is required to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
    • Some day/overnight travel may be required.
Physical/Mental Effort
  • Works under pressure at peak times of the year with tight deadlines, high volume workload, and with multiple demands, changing and overlapping priorities.
  • High degree of responsibility including financial, staff and operational demands.
  • Periodically exposed to highly emotional situations where wish recipients’ conditions may deteriorate including death prior to or post participation in wish.
