Job Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist, under the direction of the Manager of Rehabilitation or Clinical Manager, is responsible for completion of professional activities that include: assessment, treatment, education, and management of clients requiring Speech and Language Pathology intervention, in accordance with professional standards.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the assessment of clients, establishment and ongoing evaluation and revision of treatment programs, including goals and discharge plans. Maintains current accurate clinical records according to standards set by the College of Audiologists and Speech-language Pathologists of Ontario. Documents assessment results, goals, treatment, client progress and discharge plans.
  • Collaborates with other members of the health care team as needed.
  • Communicates pertinent information and recommendations to clients/care providers and provides education regarding treatment strategies as needed.
  • Observes the performance of those assisting in the speech and language program and provides guidance as necessary.
Other Responsibilities
  • Maintain active standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.
  • Participate in ongoing internal and/or external education activities
  • Adhere to Bayshore / ICS Policies and Procedures
  • Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company’s Quality Management System
  • Participate in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties. Responsible to notify immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel
  • Complete other tasks as requested
Education

Masters Degree or recognized equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology. Registered and in good standing with the College of Audiologists or Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.

Experience

Preference of three years providing Speech-Language Pathology services. Experience completing in-home assessments and treatments

Other Skills And Abilities

Enjoy working with clients of all ages in multiple treatment environments. Strong communication (oral and written) and exceptional interpersonal and decision-making skills. Ability to handle difficult situations in an objective and consistent manner. Ability to work independently and to effectively collaborate with a team. Demonstrate basic knowledge of personal computers, and proficiency with secure email. Commitment to continued learning. Valid driver’s license.
