Server Network Technician

The Server Network Technician registers, discovers and evaluates electronic equipment (Server, storage devices, network gears, etc) and performs troubleshooting to system failures. Testing and configuring software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral.

Your responsibilities would include:

• Install, configure, test and update server operating systems and related server-class software and networking.
• Performs a full range of servicing and repair service procedures including troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, installation, removal.
• Manage all on-site software-technical services.
• Collaborate closely with technical team to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain confidentiality of all Customer, Supplier and Company information
• Participate in training as required and apply knowledge gained through training on the job
• Ensure to work with / use security measures, procedures and devices as required

Your qualifications and key skills:

• Ability to troubleshoot problems.
• Excellent technical knowledge especially with enterprise equipment
• Strong attention to details and accuracy
• Good communication and analytical/mathematical skills
• Comfortable with detailed documentation- reporting
• Practical working knowledge of intermediate server hardware (including SCSI, RAID and I/O topology)
• Practical working knowledge of storage hardware (clustering, etc.)
• Practical working knowledge of networking (including WAN topology, mixed LAN/WAN operating system environments, DNS/WINS/DHCP, firewall solutions and network load balancing)
• Practical working knowledge of: NT, W2K
• Proven track record in maintaining and enhancing skill(s) level(s) according to future technology trends.
• Proven track record in managing multiple escalations with effective follow-up/follow-through and timely documentation.
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Recognized as a technical leader in current area of expertise.
• Excellent troubleshooting, judgement, and decision-making skills
• High level of self-motivation and proven ability for self-study and learning on the job.

Additional assets would include:

• College diploma in the field of IT or equivalent technical certificate/experience
• Industry Standard Certification (MCP, MCSE, MCSE+I, CNE, CCNA MCNE, RHCE)
• OEM specific certification (Dell, HP, IBM, Cisco) an asset
• CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+CCNA is required

Your environment would include:

• High volume of heavy equipment traffic
• Fast paced warehousing, manufacturing environment, Data centre
• Require working outdoor in some setting
• Physical demands vary based upon the size of the equipment and location
• Wearing of required PPE: safety glasses, gloves, and shoes
