Astellas Pharma Canada is currently searching for a Senior Manager, Insights & Strategy
Analytics. This is a head office role located in Markham, Ontario.
Description
The scope of the Senior Manager, Insights & Strategy Analytics position is to lead
Oncology Commercial Insights activities providing thought leadership and insights to
drive business decisions and outcomes at the Canadian affiliate. Aligned to Global
plans, this individual has a deep understanding of the market landscape, develops local
direction, and provides strategic insight that leads to competitive advantage for Astellas’
oncology portfolio. This individual acts as a strategic partner to the Oncology Business
Unit and commercial leadership.
Essential Job Duties
- Lead Affiliate Commercial Insights activities for assigned product(s) and provide
forward looking insights to advance understanding of the relevant markets,
competitors and customers with the aim of delivering major competitive advantage
for Astellas’ products
- Delivery and execution of insights plans that are aligned with global counterparts and
address Affiliate specific strategic objectives, tactical requirements, and decision-
making needs. Includes annual business planning activities and additional strategic
exercises.
- Develop deep understanding of the market landscape which includes market
potential, market trends, unmet medical and patient needs, market access
challenges and competitors’ trend for each of the assigned products
- Provide assumptions and inputs to inform analytics plans (executed by separate
team) to inform market and response models such as forecasting, identification of
data sources, and other secondary research.
- Prioritize resources and projects to effectively and efficiently deliver I&S support to
Affiliate commercial stakeholders and align to global CI roadmap
- Serve as the primary strategic partner and point of accountability to Affiliate
commercial leadership, providing thought leadership and insight to drive business
decisions and outcomes
- Coordinate across Commercial Division Insights & Strategy teams, Data Strategy,
Advanced, Analytics & Reporting and Commercial Forecasting functions to ensure
integrated and consistent communication of insights and implications, tied back to
brand strategies and objectives
- Synthesize marketing intelligence learnings to provide thought leadership and insight
to inform business decisions and outcomes
- Drive strong cross-functional stakeholder communication to promote brand-level
knowledge sharing and integration of key learnings
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 6 years’ experience, primarily in the pharmaceutical/health care industry
with broad experience in strategy development, market research, business analytics,
strategic forecasting or related fields
- Experience in identifying, evaluating, and translating primary and secondary data
sources and analysis to provide unbiased, objective, in-depth understanding of the
market, product performance, customers, and competitors and support
franchise/product strategy
- Strong, proven experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- Experience in project management: managing multiple projects simultaneously,
management of complex projects
- Understanding of the broad functions of a global pharmaceutical organization
- Deep understanding of business strategy, products, customers and the industry
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration and partnering skills with demonstrated ability to
lead and work in a team-based, global environment
- Ability to influence decision-making and gain the respect, collaboration and support
of stakeholders without line-authority
- Effective communication of complex messages, in writing and speech, to a broad
range of stakeholders, including senior executives
- Occasional international travel and inter-provincial travel within Canada including
overnight stays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MBA/MS/PhD)
- Undergraduate or advanced degree in math or science
- Experience working with global partners
