The Senior Manager, Healthcare Distribution is the site leader for the Shared Distribution Centre providing service for Janssen Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices and Surgical Vision. The Senior Manager is responsible and manages all distribution operations and services provided through our 3PL relationship with approximate sales revenues of $2.8B CDN. Responsibilities include all aspects of compliance and distribution quality for cold chain, narcotics and ambient storage.

Major Responsibilities:

Distribution

  • Manages operations with 3PL for all inbound and outbound activities including on time shipping, labor productivity efficiency, collaboration with transportation team to meet customer service commitments.
  • Responsible for the development and continuous improvement of customer experience, reporting and scorecard.
  • Work directly with partner companies on continuous compliance, service improvements and joint value creation initiatives.
  • Leads /Supports J&J supply chain initiatives participating in major initiatives involving demand and supply management for partner companies.
  • Evaluates operational aspects of both existing and new supply chain strategies (examples: service offering model, cycle time reduction etc.)
  • Leverages global competencies and industry best practices to recommend and develop value added services to the mutual benefit of J&J and our customers.
  • Leads special projects as assigned by the Director National Distribution Operations
  • Facilitates regular key performance indicator review sessions with 3PL
  • Participates at 3PL Executive Quarterly Business Reviews
  • Facilitates mutual CAPA between 3PL and J&J, as required
  • Champions process changes in support of cost reduction, new business growth opportunities or strategic decisions

Compliance

  • Responsible for 3PL performance versus contractual obligations.
  • Responsible for compliance to and adherence of identified SOX controls.
  • Responsible for compliance to and adherence to identified Safe & Secure Supply Chain controls including, but not limited to, Quality and Site Security controls.
  • Collaborates with QA to meet sector and enterprise standards, Health Canada and ISO requirements.
  • Functional lead of Business Continuity Planning for the Shared Distribution Center

Budget Management

  • Accountable for managing budget of $5.5M
  • Responsible to identify and deliver with 3PL CIP’s to meet identified Distribution expense reduction or management decision targets.

End to End Supply Chain

  • Partner with Supply Chain leaders on end-to-end projects to drive improved service, reduced cost and increased cash flow

Customer Service

  • Participates in customer specific initiatives to improve key service performance metrics
  • Internal liaison between Operations and other functional areas
  • Provides Operations input to Executive Business Directors, Sales, Marketing, QA, Transportation and Customer Care Team as required
  • Supports the RFP (Customer Contracts) process from a Distribution perspective.

Organization & Talent Development

  • Development of department employees
  • Performance Management of employees including people leaders


Qualifications
  • A minimum of a University degree is required. A focus in supply chain management an asset.
  • An advance degree (i.e. MBA) is considered an asset
  • A minimum of 8 years of supply chain experience. Additionally, 2 years of direct management of a 3PL relationship is preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
  • Lean, Six Sigma or J&J Operating System experience is an asset.
  • APICS and/or CSCP certification, an asset
  • Critical thinking – seeking areas for improvement to create growth, improve financial performance and gain a competitive advantage
  • Proven track record to cultivate strong business relationships
  • Supply chain or healthcare experience preferred, but not required
