Overview:
WildBrain Studios is looking for Senior Lighter/Compositor Artiststo join our exciting new animated Sonic the Hedgehog series, Sonic Prime, set to premiere worldwide in 2022.

This 24-episode animated adventure for kids, families, and long-time fans draws upon the keystones of the brand and features the “Blue Blur” of video game fame in a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his gloved hands. Sonic’s adventure is about more than a race to save the universe, it’s a journey of self-discovery and redemption.

This feature quality episodic series will deliver the visually captivating, binge-worthy story that Sonic fans new and old are sure to love. We are on the hunt to find passionate and talented folks to join this team and help us really bring the blue blur to life!

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the lighting team and ensuring deliverables are completed on time. You will work closely with the Art Director, FX Supervisor, Lighting Supervisor, and various other teams to successfully meet the show’s technical and creative needs.

These roles are set to begin early October
2021.

Responsibilities:

What You’ll Do:

  • Work closely with the Lighting Supervisor and proactively communicate concerns and production issues
  • Help lead the lighting team to deliver the show needs on time and to the expected quality standards
  • Aid in establishing lookdev lighting environments to match the show’s needs on an episodic and series level
  • Meet production deadlines, ensure and maintain the expected render time, quality and style across the show
  • Debug and optimize lighting templates as required
  • Aid in establishing and executing post lighting process
  • Review, debug and improve other team members’ assets, workflows and techniques
  • Assist with the creation of documentation for lighting guidelines and techniques
  • Support, assist and mentor other team members
  • Be a positive and creative force in building a healthy work and team culture
Qualifications:
What You’ll Bring:
  • 3+ years of experience in animation or film industry
  • Previous experience in lighting and/or compositing in animation TV or film
  • Good understanding of modelling, texturing, shading, lighting, compositing and rendering workflows
  • Experience in Katana is a must
  • Experience in Nuke is a must
  • Ability to take direction, collaborate and be a team player
  • Ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas in a professional and positive manner
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure
  • Encouraging attitude towards feedback and new initiatives
  • Ability to adapt to multiple show styles
  • Flexibility, openness to direction and ability to embrace change
Nice to have:
  • Experience with Arnold is a benefit
