Here is what your day to day could look like

• Read and interpret structural steel and architectural drawings, technical specifications, 3D models and contractual documents/terms
• Handle the complete bid process (start to finish)
• Understand the Client’s requirements, scope of work, deliverables, forms etc.
• Give clear instructions to estimators for take-offs preparation (on plans or in 3D)
• Validate steel take-offs (on plans or in 3D) and ensure that they correspond to the client’s requirements
• Establish and analyze costs for engineering, shop drawings, materials, fabrication, and subcontractors
• Prepare bid per Client’s requirements
• Communicate with Clients and subcontractors
• Evaluate, validate, and establish bids addendums’ impacts on costs/timelines
• Participate to meetings with Clients and/or subcontractors and answer their questions
• Negotiate contracts with clients and/or subcontractors

What we are looking for

• 5 to 10 years of estimating experience in the steel industry
• CEGEP diploma in estimating, civil engineering, or associated experience/training
• Bilingual in French and English spoken and written
• Ability to use and learn internal software as well as 3D model software
• Strong negotiating skills and ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously

A few Assets

• Knowledge of TEKLA or other 3D software (Revit, Naviswork, AutoCAD, Autodesk 3ds Max, etc…)
• Jobsite experience or experience in steel detailing (3D models, shop drawings, etc.)
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or related training
