About this opportunity:
The Communications Senior Advisor will work as a member of the Internal Advisory team to protect and enhance Cenovus’s reputation internally and externally, and provide strategic communications guidance and support to Cenovus’s Health & Safety, Supply Chain Management, Governance and Finance functions. The role requires strategic and critical thinking skills to lead and complete a variety of tasks and projects across different internal teams and requires the ability to build strong partnerships with internal experts and leaders, including the Cenovus Leadership Team (CLT) and senior leaders communications.
Areas of responsibility include:
  • Developing and executing strategic communication plans that contribute to Cenovus’s business goals.
  • Overseeing all communications to Cenovus’s suppliers.
  • Coordinate, write and develop internal communication materials, including: intranet bulletins and pages, town halls, presentations, speaking notes, key messages, print collateral, videos, speeches, FAQs, digital display content.
  • Ensure all internal communication materials reflect Cenovus’s brand and align with our strategy and culture, and are reviewed by the right internal subject matter experts.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic communications guidance and support to Cenovus’s Health & Safety, Supply Chain Management, Governance and Finance functions, building strong partnerships with internal experts and leaders, including the Cenovus Leadership Team (CLT) and senior leaders.
  • Oversee Cenovus’s communications strategy and engagements with it’s suppliers of good and services and contingent labour stakeholders.
  • Recommend and implement communication solutions that are effective, right-sized, low-cost and practical.
  • Recommend and execute communication tactics that strengthen our culture, brand, reputation, confidence in leadership and employee morale.
  • Develop and execute strategic communication plans that contribute to Cenovus’s business goals.
  • Coordinate, write and develop internal communication materials, including: intranet bulletins and pages, town halls, presentations, speaking notes, key messages, print collateral, videos, speeches, FAQs, digital display content.
  • Ensure all internal communication materials reflect Cenovus’s brand and align with our strategy and culture, and are reviewed by the right internal subject matter experts.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and our Digital, Brand & Content team and vendors.
  • Lay out content within the company’s intranet content management system, including producing web resource pages, news bulletins and headlines, as well as laying out content for the company’s digital display network.
  • Provide recommendations for new tools or improvements to existing tools that increase staff engagement.
  • Coordinate internal photo and video shoots, working with and managing internal and vendor relationships.
  • Develop surveys that measure the effectiveness of internal communications and company programs/projects.
  • Provide communications support for company-wide events (e.g. town halls etc.).
  • Manage a variety of internal and external projects that require writing, coordination with designers/vendors, and managing reviews and approvals.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Cenovus’s business, technology and key messaging, and stay informed on company and industry news and issues.
Qualifications:
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Minimum seven years of communications experience in a corporate environment.
  • Post secondary degree in communications or public relations would be considered an asset.
  • Superior writing skills.
  • Experience working with internal communications, including digital communications solutions.
  • Familiarity with health and safety and the oil and gas industry and an understanding of current issues would be beneficial
  • Communications planning and execution.
  • Prioritization and coordination of a large scope of work across several areas of the company.
  • Strategic and critical thinking, providing advice to executives and subject matter experts.
  • Strong negotiation and critical thinking skills are required to ensure communications solutions are in the best interest of the company and staff.
