Reporting to the Director of Purchasing, the Senior Buyer is responsible for all purchase requests, processes orders, negotiates the best prices with suppliers and ensures that a good relationship is developed. The Senior Buyer also ensures that appropriate inventory levels are maintained according to organizational needs. He/she must interact with all departments in the organization and plays a support role.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Researches new suppliers for goods and services. Performs bid requests and analysis.Negotiates contracts and service agreements with suppliers.Creates purchase orders and follow up on purchase orders.
  • Activates MRP messages on components – new orders, date change, quantity.
  • Implements the “VMI” system for the management of consumables.
  • Performs follow-ups and follow-ups with suppliers.
  • Manages supplier non-performance.
  • Prepares documentation for merchandise returns.
  • Responds to internal customer requests for purchases.
  • Participates in the analysis of “warehouse parts” usage, makes annual purchases and recommends min-max adjustments, lead-time, classification, etc.
  • Tracks and updates delivery and inventory lead times within established parameters and sales forecasts.
  • Coordinates and leads conference calls with suppliers, customers requiring more rigorous follow-up.
  • Analyzes discrepancies in receiving and invoicing versus the purchase order.
  • Participates in the cost reduction project.
  • Participates in process improvement.
  • Contributes to the transfer of knowledge by providing functional guidance and coaching to less experienced employees in the team.
Education And Experience

Qualifications and requirements

– Bachelor’s degree in Operations and Logistics Management, Business Administration or Certificate in Supply Management or related field.

– Minimum de 6 ans d’expérience dans un poste d’acheteur

Knowledges

– MS-Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

– Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems

– Knowledge of Infor software (an asset)

– Knowledge of cutting tools

– Fluency in French (oral and written)

– Fluency in English – communicates fluently both orally and in writing
