The Job

In expanding our R&D team, we are seeking Software Developers with experience working in a Cloud environment. At Cyclica, you will have an opportunity to contribute to our web-based platform for drug discovery. You will develop features from the ground up and take ownership over internal projects. We are looking for people who speak Python fluently, who are curious about full stack development, and have an interest in the fields of medicine and biotechnology (though no experience in life science is required). You can look forward to mentorship and support from scientists and software developers.

What will you be doing?

- Develop and maintain cloud computing and data storage infrastructure
- Build, optimize, update and backup key databases to support scientific staff and machine learning initiatives
- Assist team with software challenges related to compute scaling, data optimization and system integrations
- Provide critical reviews on code quality upon pull requests
- Disseminate results of projects to staff scientists as well as non-technical staff when necessary
- Participate in regular developer meetings by sharing personal experiences and lessons learned on the job

Must haves:

- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or a related field
- Database development experience, preferably PostgreSQL
- Distributed computing experience, preferably with cloud based environments such as Google Cloud, AWS or Azure
- 2+ years experience with Django or a comparable web framework (e.g. Rails)
- 4+ years experience developing code collaboratively
- Experience building web applications, including REST APIs
- Experience with testing frameworks and practices (i.e. Selenium, Pytest, etc.)
- Experience with high performance computing concepts, such as queuing and load balancing systems

Nice to haves

- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible or Terraform
- Experience in scientific computing environments, such as bioinformatics or computational biology
- An interest, education or experience in Life Sciences or Drug Discovery
