Job Description

You will join us as a Rotational Analyst into our Fundamental Investments Program. Rotational Analysts will participate in an initial two-year rotational program, completing rotations in three different departments working across our Active Equities,Credit Investments, Private Equity, and Real Assetsgroups. Rotations are based on business needs and consider your background and preferences. The departments offering rotations are listed below.

As a Rotational Analyst you will join a Program that goes beyond technical components to include formal training, apprenticeship, mentoring and meaningful performance management. You will join CPP Investments’ LAUNCH and Training the Street Program as new graduates which is designed to help you learn about different investment strategies, technical requirements and thought process needed to become a sound investor. You will be encouraged to ask questions, be engaged and pursue both formal and informal learning opportunities.

You will quickly advance your knowledge and expertise through skills-based training and stimulating on-the-job assignments working in a high performing and collaborative environment with colleagues who are leading experts in their field.

Rotating across three teams will give you great insight into your abilities, interest and passions to grow your career at CPP Investments. What you’ll do:

• Analyze and evaluate a variety of industries, companies, private equity and venture capital funds, and securities including the analysis of management teams
• Perform valuation analysis of companies, assets and/or securities
• Perform due diligence on private equity and venture capital funds, assets and/or companies including financial performance, quality of management team, expected merits and risks, market and industry dynamics, and expected returns
• Build financial models to analyze investment opportunities
• Assist in the investment decision-making process; provides support and input into the making and managing of investments around the world
• Prepare analytical investment reviews and recommendations in collaboration with the team, including industry/market overviews, writing investment rationales and due diligence reviews
• Explore investment opportunities in geographic markets including the Americas, Europe, and/or Asia
• Apply statistical and qualitative analysis to support investment decisions
• Research, analyze and report on macro level trends
• Interview external management teams, industry experts and other private equity and venture capital fund investors
  
  

Overview Of Participating Groups

Active Equities

• Active Equities North America: Focuses to deliver alpha in the North American public equity markets. Leverages their structural competitive advantages and developed sources of edge to exploit alpha opportunities through propriety company specific fundamental research. Focuses on fundamental insights to yield a collection of high-conviction, single-company investments into a highly concentrated long/short, market-neutral portfolio.
  
  

Credit Investments

• Americas Leveraged Finance: Focuses on direct primary and secondary investments in leveraged loans, high yield bonds, mezzanine, preferred equity and other solutions across the capital structure in North America and Latin America.
• Capital Solutions: Responsible for high-yield investments in portfolios of credit and credit-like assets, as well as corporate credit investments in specialty finance companies and other financials.
• Real Assets Credit: Focuses on high yield credit opportunities in the real estate, infrastructure, energy and natural resource sectors in most major markets globally.
  
  

Private Equity

• Direct Private Equity: Focuses on North American and European direct private equity investments.
• Private Equity Funds: Primary commitments to private equity and venture capital funds and co-investments alongside our private equity fund partners. CPP Investments is one of the world’s largest private equity fund investors and maintains relationships with more than 50 general partners globally
• Secondaries: Participates in the private equity secondary market through three strategies: i) acquiring interests in existing funds (LP Secondaries), ii) providing fund liquidity solutions to existing funds (Direct Secondaries), and iii) providing structured financing to owners of private equity assets (Structured Secondaries).
  
  

Real Assets

• Infrastructure: Direct investments in large- scale infrastructure assets globally, typically in the regulated networks (electric, water, gas utilities), transport (roads, ports, airports, rails), and communication and energy sectors.
• Sustainable Energy Group: Focuses on evolution of the energy industry and growth in sustainable energy- market, with significant, flexible capital to leverage our combined thought leadership on tomorrow’s energy ecosystem.
  
  

Qualifications

Who We’re Looking for:

Candidates in an undergraduate or advanced degree program that are able to start work in in the Fall of 2023 are eligible to apply. We look for candidates with a strong track record of academic success while balancing extracurricular activities, a strong skill-set in interpersonal and relationship building skills, financial modeling, valuation and analytics, as well as good communication. In addition, the most successful candidates often combine energy, enthusiasm, and intellectual curiosity, with demonstrated interest in investing.
