We are growing and looking for a great leader to join our team as a Restaurant Operator, leading a restaurant team that works together to create a high level of hospitality and food.

This role will lead both the front of house and back of house team, so experience in both of these areas as a leader is considered an asset.

You will be:

  • Championing an inclusive and positive workplace culture through values-based leadership, role-modelling the behaviours you expect in others, and identifying barriers in an effort to remove them
  • Leading and supporting a team to achieve high levels of quality in service and food
  • Providing alignment and growth opportunities through 1-on-1s and team meetings
  • Overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the restaurant
  • Ensuring consistent standards of food quality and guest satisfaction
  • Working with the Regional Burrito Bar Manager to learn new recipes, ensuring they are to the specifications as outlined in the company’s recipe guide
  • Hiring, onboarding, and training new team members
  • Providing ongoing training and development opportunities and regular check-ins with your team
  • Monitoring and maintaining food and labour targets to meet goals, including sales and community initiatives
  • Ensuring all staff are in compliance to appropriate safe food-handling procedures as per the Vancouver Coastal Health Guidelines
  • Providing additional support to your team when required, such as jumping on a station and supporting the line to expedite lunch and/or dinner services
  • Supporting a workplace with shared accountability toward goals and addressing performance or behaviour opportunities promptly
  • Creating schedule templates, forecasted labour, and sales tracking
  • Maintaining kitchen systems and timelines for ordering, food production, station pars, equipment maintenance and opening/closing duties of all back of house staff
  • Submitting daily orders for prepared food items from the Production Kitchen
  • Performing and submitting bi-weekly inventories
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date recipes and records
  • Creating invoice reports, payroll and inventory for the accounting department
  • Planning for and participating in weekly meetings with the Operations team
  • Other duties as required

To be qualified for this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced, high volume & professional kitchen environment
  • A minimum of 2 years in a leadership role managing 10 employees in both front of house and back of house
  • Food Safe Certification(s) and Serving it Right
  • Proven cooking Ability, excellent knife skills, and a seasoned palate
  • A strong, positive, and supportive leadership style
  • Culinary Arts or Red Seal Certification is considered an asset
  • A demonstrated passion for soulful food, people, and the restaurant industry
  • The personal skills of being a self-starter, flexible, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends according to the needs of the business
