Community Respite Service supports the caregivers and parents of children and adults with disabilities, by giving them much deserved breaks. Respite work is a rewarding job working with people with physical and intellectual disabilities.

We are currently looking for applicants with a flexible schedule, available to work a variety of shifts (days, evenings & weekends).

Due to this requirements of this position, working with children & adults who have vulnerable health conditions, worker must provide proof of double vaccination or provide three negative Covid tests per week.

  • Part time, flexible hours.
  • Great job for students or those seeking secondary employment
  • Mileage reimbursed
  • Benefits available after working an average of 20hrs a week for 6 months.
  • Experience preferred but not required (Starting wage dependent on education & experience)
  • Education in Disability and Community Support Program, Educational Assistant, Special Needs Child Care, Health Care Aide or related field are an asset
  • Experience working or volunteering with people with Developmental Disabilities is an asset
  • Experience in Personal Care (Bathing, Changing, Dressing, Feeding, Lifting etc.) is an asset
  • Experience with Violent/Aggressive behaviors is an asset
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check (no more than 3 months old) are required before interviews. The cost of getting these checks is reimbursed to Respite Workers who stay with CRS for at least 500 hours.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to work in all areas of the city
  • Driver’s License & Vehicle would be an asset to transport participants to activities in the community
