The Don Wright Faculty of Music is situated in a research-intensive university in an environment that enables students to grow artistically and academically. Responsibilities


***Please note, it is anticipated this position will be filled internally by reappointment***

Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will collect, manage, and analyze data related to practice strategies and music learning, and assist with manuscript preparation and knowledge dissemination. They will work with a research team that includes faculty members and students in the Don Wright Faculty of Music and Brain & Mind at Western.

Qualifications
Education: PhD in Music Education with a specialization in Music Cognition

Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Research Assistant, focused on empirical studies related to music and psychology, and related administrative activities.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant scientific/research principles
  • Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with experience presenting research proposals and research outcomes to a diverse audience
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development with a desire to take on new challenges
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
  • Ability to work in a fluid and evolving work environment with changing deadlines and priorities
  • Ability to work independently and maintain direction and focus through proactive planning and organized approaches to work
  • Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
  • Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems
