This is a temporary position until September 2022.
Your role
You demonstrate and maintain exceptional skill in writing, you build multimedia-rich story packages. You are often the last set of eyes on our story and you have a strong sense of CBC’s journalistic standards and practices as well as legal issues that might arise in news.
You want to work as part of a team to provide the best content for Prince Edward Island. You devour the news and are excited about the possibilities digital offers. You love the craft of writing and feel privileged to tell people’s stories.
Work can involve the coordination of the activities of others and close co-operation with the program unit is essential.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • A university degree or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience including proven ability in the field and knowledge of the digital or print industry.
  • Knowledge of the challenges and aspirations of the diverse cultural, ethnic and language communities of our province and region.
  • Understanding of segmenting stories (aka ‘elementing’) as well as writing with voice and personality is required.
  • An understanding of image selection and cropping is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of web, mobile and social media tools and industry trends.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Advice and guidance are available but initiative and independent judgment are expected.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including early starts, late finishes and weekends.
