Nova Scotia Health Authority provides health services to Nova Scotians and some specialized services to Maritimers and Atlantic Canadians. Our team of health professionals includes employees, doctors, researchers, learners and volunteers that provide the health care or services you may need. This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals, families, groups, communities and populations across the life span. He/she is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of nursing care and provides clinical leadership particularly in complex or unpredictable patient/client care settings.
The RN has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide competent, evidenced based nursing practice and is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the plan of care to achieve patient/client outcomes. This individual supports the development of students and colleagues through acting as a preceptor and providing ongoing mentorship and contributes to the efficient and effective functioning of the unit, coordination of patient care and staffing.
The RN accepts responsibility for maintaining and continually enhancing competencies through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs, research and continuous quality activities. He/she practices according to the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses, the Nova Scotia College of Nursing Standards of Nursing Practice, specialty standards as applicable and the policies and procedures of the Nova Scotia Health Authority. In addition, the RN is responsible and accountable for his/her nursing practice and conduct as defined by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing and for ensuring that his/her registration is current and valid.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registration with Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN)
- Recent Long Term Care experience preferred
- Experience caring for individuals with dementia an asset
- Basic Life Support certification is required
- Demonstrated clinical skills
- Effective communication skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours of Work
Long Assignment, Part-Time (60%) position; 45 hours bi-weekly
Beginning September 6, 2021 and ending February 6, 2021
Dates are approximate and subject to change
Salary Information
$35.0366 - $41.4138
($42.8633 with 25 years RN experience).
