Wynn Park Villa is currently seeking a Temporary Part-time 0.7 (56 hours bi-weekly) Registered Nurse with a term of 12 months. This position includes 8 hour shifts and is a mixture of days and evenings. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

POSITION SCOPE:To assume the primary responsibility for the delivery of quality nursing care to all residents in accordance with the philosophy of Wynn Park Villa. To assist the Director of Care in promotion, interpretation and application of the philosophy through all members of the Nursing staff and all Departments. The RN works under the direction and supervision of the Director of Care and is responsible to the Director of Care and the Administrator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
I.Organizational:

1. Demonstrates knowledge of and conducts his/her work in accordance with Wynn Park Villa’s philosophy, mission, policies and procedures.

II.Provision of Care:

1. Utilizes the Nursing process to develop Nursing Care Plans and promotes the involvement of all disciplines, families and residents in that process.

2. Co-ordinates the service of all departments to most efficiently meet the total client needs: physical, spiritual, emotional and social. Also provides effective liaison between the individual resident and these services.

3. Responsible for processing the order, administering and assessing the resident’s medication requirement and the recording of same.

4. Responsible to ensure that Nursing procedures are performed according to the facilities Policy & Procedure Manual.

5. Responsible for consulting in delegation of associated tasks concerning PD.

6. Responsible to maintain all medical records such as: Nursing Care Plans, Progress Notes, Treatment book, Risk Management reports, M.A.R. sheets, intake/output forms, diabetic and B.P. sheets, Infection Control data, Census reports, etc.

7. Responsible for delegation of tasks to appropriate staff members to ensure that all Doctor’s orders are carried out. ie. Medication reviews, physical updates, blood work requisitioning, referrals, double checking all orders, etc.

8. Have charts and paperwork in order and organize and participate in Client Care Planning with other staff as required.

9. Carries out admission procedures. Prepares residents for transfer and/or discharge as directed.

10. Observes the condition of the resident, at a frequency commensurate with the severity of the resident’s condition.

11. Collects data necessary to assist the physician in making a diagnosis and evaluates the Resident’s reaction to treatment.

12. Responsible for maintaining open lines of communication both within the Nursing department as well as with all other departments.

13. Responsible for ensuring confidentiality in all aspects of the resident’s life here.

14. Responsible for evaluation of subordinate staff in Nursing Department.

15. Responsible for maintaining skills and education. Responsible to keep PD skills according to program schedule.

16. Responsible for after hours scheduling of all departments and maintaining adequate staffing.

III.Health & Safety:

1. Maintains knowledge of and works in accordance with the current facility policies and procedures relating to: Disaster and Fire, Infection Control, Occupational Health & Safety and any other risk management programs that concern the health and safety of employees, residents and visitors.

2. Has thorough knowledge of and demonstrates the safe use and care of equipment.

3. Responsible to ensure that Nursing procedures are performed according to the facilities Policy & Procedure Manual.

IV.Other Related Duties:

1. Promotes staff education by identifying areas needing improvement and refer these to the Director of Care. Orientates new RN/LPN personnel and ensures that new RCA/CCA are following the orientation program.

2. Be willing to serve and participate on various committees of Wynn Park Villa.

3. Attends and participates at all staff meetings.

4. Be willing to attend and/or provide Inservice Programs and Workshops.

5. Responsible for the completion of staff incident reports, including WBC, and provides First Aid as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

1. Current registration with the CRNNS.

2. First Aid/CPR.

3. WHMIS and OHS.

4. Fire Safety.

5. Updating of Education such as: in-services, Gerontology courses, Alzheimer’s course or any course related to a position in a Long-Term Care Facility.

6. Has acquired current theoretical knowledge and skills pertinent to Long Term Care.

7. Identifies and ensures own professional learning needs are met.

8. Experience in Long Term Care an asset.

9. Current certification for obtaining blood specimens.

10. Demonstrates the skills, ability and qualifications to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.

11. Demonstrates effective leadership skills. i.e. Interpersonal, supervisory, and problem-solving skills.

12. Demonstrates skills in both written and verbal communication.

13. Mentally and physically capable of performing assigned duties.

14. Must maintain certification in required skills according to the already established schedule.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITES:

1. Adheres to policies and procedures of Wynn Park Villa.

2. Maintenance of confidentiality concerning management discussions and information and resident, employee and organizational data and information.

3. Hours of work, it is understood that Wynn Park Villa is a 24-hour, 7-day a week operation, therefore hours of work cover days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. May be required to work overtime.

4. May be required to return to the facility in emergency situations in which the call-back procedure has to be implemented.

5. Takes every reasonable precaution to protect own health and safety and the health and safety of other persons at or near the workplace.

6. May be assigned other related duties as deemed necessary and appropriate according to scope of practice.

Contract length: 12 months

Part-time hours: 28 per week

Expected start date: 2021-09-27
