RLG is seeking four (4) Recycling Sorters. The position is permanent, full-time position reporting to our Brampton location.

This position reports to the Manager, CCS Recycling Operations but will be directly supervised by the Team Lead, Compositional Assessment. This position will work closely with other RLG staff to ensure safe, efficient and effective delivery of the compositional auditing program including receipt of audit samples of blue box material, sorting of audit samples, shipping of materials and supplies and document and data management.

Primary Job Description

As a Recycling Sorter, you will carry out the following duties in order to assist with the planning, coordination, and continuous improvement of the Blue Box Program in Ontario. Key tasks include, but may not be limited to:

• Performing compositional assessments of blue box materials by sorting blue box materials by type and weighing samples in accordance with the standards set out in O. Reg 391/21 Blue Box
• Performing compositional assessments following established policies, procedures and protocols, including health and safety
• Data entry and analysis, as required
• Contributing to continuous improvement by assisting with updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) , as required
• Communicating with Team Lead, Compositional Assessment and Manager, CCS Recycling Operations on risks and recommending process changes to mitigate those risks
• Regularly required to stand and walk while performing the work and able to lift 20kg
• Other duties as assigned

Your Experience:

• Experience in waste management and compositional assessment is considered an asset
• Highly organized with attention to detail
• Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite of programs
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone and within a team environment
• Degree or Diploma in Environmental Studies, Engineering, or equivalent would be an asset
