Description:

We are looking for an experienced R/Shiny developer to join our group to help with projects in Cancer Oncology and drug response.

The successful candidate will:

• Be technically opinionated, with demonstrated adherence to best practices in software engineering including appropriate use of abstraction, testing, usability, and version control to create sustainable and reusable software.
• Collaboratively and pragmatically solve scientific software engineering challenges encountered at the forefront of drug response, particularly those related to the interactive visualization and analysis of large, multi-omics datasets for both bench and computational scientists.
• Collaborate with local and off-shore engineering teams to support your software development efforts.
• Contribute to the broader scientific community through open-source software development.

Requirements

• BS or higher in bioinformatics, computer science or related field.
• 5+ years experience (including any graduate school) developing tools for data analysis.

Seniority of position will depend on experience and other factors:

• Expertise with R and Shiny to develop effective interactive data analysis tools
• Familiarity with genomics and Bio-Conductor packages and data structures.
• Experience supporting data science activities using FAIR data management and reproducible practices.
• Biological domain knowledge and basic data analysis skills are desirable but not required.
• Familiarity with formal build/release/deploy and continuous integration frameworks (e.g., Github Actions) is a plus.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 11 months

Pay: $70.00-$72.00 per hour

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Experience:

• developing tools for data analysis: 5 years (preferred)
• R and Shiny: 5 years (preferred)
• genomics and Bio-Conductor packages: 1 year (preferred)
• supporting data science activities: 1 year (preferred)
• Biological domain knowledge: 1 year (preferred)
• Github Actions: 1 year (preferred)
