Deswik are world leaders in a competitive market for technical mining applications – our software is used all day, every day in over 650 operations globally. We are a major global player with 12 offices around the world. We solve complex technical mine planning problems in ways that deliver huge value to our customers.

Due on ongoing growth in demand for our enterprise applications, we are searching for an experienced project management professional to join our team. This role can be based in either Denver (USA) or Sudbury (Canada).

The successful candidate will be a Mining Engineer or IT Professional with experience in the mining industry. You will use your strong operational and technical experience to facilitate change and improvement for our customers.

You will be primarily responsible for delivering major mine planning software implementations and consulting projects across a broad range of commodities and operations. Day-to-day, this will involve:

• Working with our Sales, Software Development and Consulting teams from concept to execution
• Liaising with customers and managing the full project cycle
• Ensuring thorough assessment of project requirements and managing project risks
• Facilitating change management within customers’ teams
• Developing project execution plans and providing quality assurance
• Ensuring the alignment of expectations for Deswik and the customer
• Contributing to the ongoing improvement of Deswik’s global project management framework and processes
• Regularly travelling to our customers’ operations

What we’re looking for

• Engineering degree, majoring in Mining or IT (or similar)
• 7+ years of operational engineering experience, coupled with several years of project management experience
• Proven experience in successfully scoping, proposing, delivering and supporting implementation of new technology and software
• An understanding of software development processes and cycles
• Experience in project management of mining consulting studies
• Strong understanding of mine business planning, from short-term operational planning to strategic planning to mine closure
• Hands-on operational mine planning and/or feasibility study experience in multiple mining methods and commodities (an advantage)
• Formal qualifications in Project Management or Project Controls (an advantage)

The successful candidate can expect to spend their time between our North American offices. Given Deswik’s global reach, the successful candidate may be required to travel from time to time, typically within the America’s (depending on COVID-19 restrictions and safety considerations).
