As an Project Accountant for our Winnipeg District Office located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, you will contribute to our team by:

• Collecting, reconciling, obtaining approval and processing through PCL business systems all projects-related trade contractor payments, general expenditures, and labour costing allocations.
• Completing all financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner to meet all contract payment terms as per legislation, contract terms, and PCL policy and procedures.
• Assembling information for internal and external financial reporting requirements (e.g., government agencies, taxes).
• Providing project teams with ad hoc reports and analysis as the need arises.
• Assembling client billings packages in accordance with contract terms and conditions and ensuring timely payment.
• Preparing bank deposits, monthly reconciliations, and cash receipt entries.
• Preparing reports related to project cash-flow, fee reconciliation, and ledger balances.
• Ensuring trade partner compliance to subcontracts for accounting related items and following established accounting procedures (e.g., insurance, bonding).
• Supporting exploration of new technology and innovations to update or streamline processes.
• Other duties as required.

What you will bring to the role:

• Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related field.
• Active pursuit of accounting designation considered an asset.
• 1 year of accounting experience in construction or a related industry preferred.
• Exposure to full-cycle accounting and project forecasting and budgeting.
• Exposure to project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements as related to accounting.
• Understanding of owner contracts as they related to payment terms, billing requirements, audit rights, and cost-of-work definition, insurance, and bonding.
• Basic understanding of government legislation and generally accepted accounting principles.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to act with the required discretion when handling confidential information.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting software.
