Procurement Specialist

BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.

BIOVECTRA Inc.has an opening for aProcurement Specialist. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Charlottetown, PEI.

The candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing technical expertise, guidance and leadership to the procurement team.
• Leading and managing technically based change control activities within the Procurement Department.
• Maximizing goods and services under a structured spend management program.
• Classifying inventory and supplier master file records to enhance spend analytics, validate baseline spend characteristics, identify savings opportunities and to support robust RFP/RFQ processes.
• Identifying cost savings strategies or programs.
• Identifying category and material risk elements, developing mitigation strategies and implementing corresponding action plans.
• Meeting with assigned suppliers as required to maintain and strengthen the business relationship to maximize value, while minimizing risk.
• Conducting regular reviews to verify alignment with category structure, and acceptable supplier performance.
• Managing RFP, RFQ or similar competitive bid processes using standardized methods, tools and processes.
• Leading negotiations establishing supply or service contracts/agreements.
• Managing supply and service agreements on behalf of Procurement.
• Ensuring supplier stock code cross reference system is properly structured and maintained.
• Implementing the procurement on-boarding strategy for assigned new projects.
• Sourcing goods and services in a global setting, ensuring alignment with category strategy and strategic requirements.
• Ensuring efficient flow of requisitions, purchase orders, and corresponding follow up commitments.
• Staying current with industry trends and best practice; applying concepts to promote continuous improvement.

The successful candidate for this position should have:

• Bachelor of Science.
• Master of Science an asset.
• Three (3) years of category management or related Procurement experience in a highly regulated environment.
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, time management, interpersonal, and cross-functional managerial skills.
• Possess strong negotiation skills with proven results.
• Ability to lead projects, drive change, develop strong lasting relationships, and build consensus within a team setting to influence targeted outcomes.
• Experience working with Syspro, or similar ERP programs is required.
