NES Fircroft is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas, mining, and renewable Industry. Our client, a large mining company, is currently looking for a for a Principal Engineer (Shafts and Hoisting) on a contract based role in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. This role will require travel to site and various EPCM offices in Canada.

Brief:

This role will support site ongoing shaft liner activities and hoisting activities. Oversee EPCM-led Hoisting design development including Drum hoists, Koepe hoists, control systems, electrical systems, conveyances, ropes, and attachments. Assure conveyance interface related engineering deliverables including loading pocket, shaft steel, shaft bottom steel, mine development, headframe steel, Raw ore surge bin, and construction practices. Validate equipment performance parameters, and oversight of Equipment Vendor engineering and fabrication schedules.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Operational experience equivalent.
• A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience and advanced knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering and industry standard practices.
• Experience in underground mining operations is required; particularly in Potash or other mineral / soft rock mining operations is preferred.
• Experience/understanding of Hoisting systems design, operation and maintenance. This includes hoist, ropes, conveyances, headframes, lower tower, utilities, equipping etc
• Experience designing, manufacturing, integrating, construction and commissioning of hoisting systems for underground potash or soft-rock mining.
• Experience with oversight, due diligence review, managing or supervising EPCM work in site/construction conditions as well in as in office environments.
• Experience in utilising data-centric, 3D model, and digital project delivery tools.
• Experience working with Regulatory and Permitting agencies
• Familiarity with the Design life cycle of equipment such as Specification development, Procurement, Vendor engineering and design approval cycles
• Familiarity with Strategic Procurement elements such as standardisation, equipment and spares consolidation, and Vendor management.
