We are seeking an experienced Pipeline Field Operations Technician to join our Pipeline Team at our Sherwood Pa rk site located in the Edmonton/Fort Saskatchewan area. In this role you will support high pressure Ethylene/Ethane pipeline systems in accordance with NOVA Chemicals Responsible Care® Standards.

You Will Use Your Expertise To:
Provide operations and maintenance support of valves, filters, meters and pump station assets along the pipeline systems.
Interface with customers and suppliers in coordination of pipeline operations.
Coordinate and provide operations support for cleaning and inline inspection programs.
Support construction and maintenance activities through decommissioning and recommissioning of pipeline systems.
Provide field support and oversight of pipeline integrity dig programs.
Manage Pipeline Right of Way protection: interfacing with landowners and industry partners in accordance with NOVA Chemicals Third Party Damage Prevention Program.
Monitor and patrol pipelines, logging patrols and operational information as required.
Respond to Alberta first calls, aerial surveillance, and completing pipeline crossings as required.
Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and documentation of Third-Party crossings.
Oversee field management of contractors supporting pipeline construction and maintenance activities.
Interface with the Joffre Pipeline Systems Panel Operations to address operational needs.
Provide 24 hour on call service on a rotational basis.

What We Are Looking For:
A minimum of grade 12 education, with relevant Journeyman certification, or Third-Class Steam Ticket, or Engineering Technology Diploma and 4+ years’ experience in the Oil and Gas or Petrochemical sectors.
A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
Sound mechanical aptitude, with knowledge of pipeline construction, ground disturbance requirements, foreign crossings, and pigging operations.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills with experience in conflict resolution with landowners and industry peers.
Able to work independently, while contributing to an integrated and self-managing team.
A demonstrated commitment to NOVA’s safety policies, practices and procedures.
A working knowledge of computers, with preference given to Microsoft Office and SAP.

Additional Information:
Relocation will be considered for this position
Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
This role requires up to 10% travel
Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
