At Sinai Health, we care, create possibilities and offer hope. We are looking for an experienced Physician Assistant to support the Murray Koffler Urologic Wellness Centreat our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.

  • Participates as a member of the Urology Team in inpatient rounds, daily inpatient care, order entry, discharge planning, emergency room consults and operating room coverage.
  • Assists in assessing patients and reviewing patients in ambulatory clinic with staff and resident physicians.
  • Completing discharge summaries and Community Care Plans with supervision from the Urology Team.
  • Assists in assessing patients, reviewing with staff physicians to develop a plan of care, performing procedures, providing patient education and counselling, arranging interventions and post-discharge appointments, interacting with other team members and community partners to gather and share information and obtain consultation.
  • Anticipates patient needs and Sets realistic goals for patient care that lead to optimal results, enhanced patient satisfaction and quantifiable service improvements based on evidence-based practice.
  • Has an understanding of diversity issues; fosters a healthy workplace free from discrimination and harassment.
  • Promotes a culture of patient/staff safety that encourages open discussion of issues and reporting of incidents.
  • Models and encourages personal accountability; identifies and uses individual and team strengths to improve results; challenges self and others to meet team goals.
  • Supports a common team purpose and direction.
  • Values the unique expertise and contribution of each team member.
  • Values respectful, reflective collaboration.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Successful completion of the Physician Assistant Bachelor Degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Previous Urology experience an asset. Previous experience in managing chronic pain is an asset.
  • Demonstrate good problem solving and analytical skills, creativity and initiative.
  • Ability to communicate and read using English in order to effectively perform essential requirements of the position.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound understanding of and commitment to patient and family-centered care.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion, make decisions and take initiative while working with confidential patient information and responding to patient inquiries.
  • Superior work ethic, professionalism and reliability; demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  • Superior written/oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to effectively convey factual information and detailed explanations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
  • Must be flexible to work additional/varied hours as required
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
