The Vicinity Motor Corporation (Previously Grande West Transportation Group) is a Canadian bus manufacturer which designs, engineers and manufactures mid-size buses for transit authorities and commercial enterprises. The Vicinity bus is available in a variety of models powered by clean diesel or CNG, designed with affordability, accessibility and environmental responsibility in mind. Further to this, as a part of the global transition to sustainable transportation, the Vicinity Motor Corporation will be introducing the Vicinity Lightning EV bus.


Vicinity Motor Corporation is looking for a PDM Administrator to create and maintain Parts and Engineering Masters (BOMs) and related documentation in the ERP manufacturing software system, PDM and other tools as necessary. Work with the Project Management & Product Design Team(s) to support the development of projects from design through to new product launches as it relates to utilizing the ERP system as required. Support for Change Notice implementation consisting of accurate and detailed ERP notations in collaboration with various departments and facilities.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Create, enter, and update all parts within the ERP system database.
  • Maintain all parts within the ERP system database, noting when parts are changing, a part of build out plans, first off audits, or becoming obsolete.
  • Develop and maintain engineering masters (BOMs), including top levels, assemblies, sub-assemblies based on information gains from R&D team members, and / or company data, (NX, PLM, etc.) according to company SOPs from concept until mass production including changes and updates.
  • Validate BOMs for accuracy by comparing materials and quantities to actual product during initial engineering, process, and production runs. Work with other stake holders to ensure BOMs are implemented, formatted, and structured in an efficient and optimized manner.
  • Assist in the coordination of engineering design changes within production and assembly making sure necessary associates are made aware of changes. Accurate notes in the ERP system are required along with clear and concise communication.
  • Assist in the introduction of new products and/or procedures to the manufacturing floor, by demonstrating techniques, materials necessary to perform job.
  • Distribution and database maintenance for all drawings within system database.
  • Troubleshoot ERP System Issues with various departments.
  • Suggest to department lead continuous improvement ideas to current processes and procedures


Education and Experience:

  • Associate of Science Degree in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and experience working as a CAD Designer, CAD / PDM administrator, or certified instructor for CAD / PDM software applications or high school diploma / GED
  • R&D experience is an asset. APQP experience is an asset. Good understanding of manufacturing technologies and assembly methods.
  • Experience among multiple engineering disciplines: Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, I&C
  • Knowledge of the technical concepts of drafting and file management skills for CAD files
  • Proficient in MS Office - Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
  • Experience / understanding of ERP system, previous experience with Infor Visual software is considered an asset.
  • Must understand and be able to setup multi-layered BOM’s.
  • Self-starter, independent thinker, team player, detail-oriented, systematic thinker, logical, flexible, technical expertise, initiative, excellent verbal, and written communication.
  • Blueprint reading is considered an asset.
  • Must be able to communicate with other departments in a clear, accurate manner to explain new/changed products and procedures to ensure they are being built to the standards set forth.
