The Opportunity:

ML6 is currently assisting our client, leading manufacturer of plastic and fiber container products for North America, in the search for a Payroll Coordinator to join their Ontario Team!

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manage assigned payroll processing cycle end-to-end processes of complex payrolls with multiple internal and external stakeholders to deliver the targeted outcome of 100% accuracy and timelines.
  • Execute and maintain payroll checklists to ensure key tasks are completed, process documentation is updated, and business controls are functioning. Perform audit tasks and peer review associated with the delivery of payroll.
  • Provide outstanding customer service
  • Interpret federal and provincial tax laws in order to answer questions and aid in the processing of T4 and ROE.
  • Process and maintain records and compliance for child support, bankruptcy orders, garnishments and tax levies.
  • Work directly with Human Resources on worker’s compensation, sick leave and short-term disability issues and payments.
  • Act as the primary person for writing custom payroll reports using Oracle.
  • Supervise and schedule student employees and interns.
  • Provides backup for other payroll team members during vacations.
  • Support and assist in resolution of payroll inquiries, research requests, and other inquires related to payroll taxes, deductions, wage withholdings, etc.
  • Assist in compiling payroll data and statistics necessary for reporting including preparation of payroll reports, journal entries as needed
  • Lead payroll projects and/or participate on cross-functional teams to implement new technologies, training and/or enhancements to existing platforms and processes.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful:

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Minimum of four-year related work experience in processing payroll with 1200 or more employees.
  • Knowledge and understanding of CRA, EHT, WSIB, and Social Security regulations pertaining to payroll
  • In-depth knowledge working with child support orders, garnishments, and tax levies.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software including Excel and Word.
  • Experience working with Kronos and Oracle would be an asset.
  • Strong customer focus
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and organize own work
  • PCP designation preferred
