Packaging Technician I

How will you make an impact?

The Packaging Technician I ensures the efficient completion of packaging floor activities in order to meet scheduled production deadlines. In addition, they assure product quality meets the standards of Patheon, our clients, and applicable regulatory agencies including, but not limited to the Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate (HPFBI), United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and European Medicines Agency (EMEA).

What will you do?

  • Perform work at various positions on the packaging line including: capping, cartoning, packing shippers and palletizing product in accordance with established standards and Good Manufacturing Practices requirements to meet production targets.
  • Inspect packaged products for presence and correctness of lot number, expiry date and general packaging appearance and completeness.
  • Ensure line cleanliness practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and packaging instructions are followed.
  • Equipment set up and tear down duties.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Please note: In this role, the ability to work flexible rotating shifts is essential

Proof of COVID vaccination is required

How will you get here?

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of previous packaging line experience, in a pharmaceutical, food or cosmetic environment.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work at line speed and with minimal supervision.
  • Sound knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Sound understanding of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Sound understanding of safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with the English language, both spoken & written

Physical Requirements:

  • Work requires moderate physical exertion.
  • Regularly lifts medium weight objects by hand.
  • May require recurring bending, crouching, stretching, or reaching. Or may frequently operate equipment, including keyboard and must walk, sit, or stand immobile for prolonged periods.
  • Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odour.
  • Safety precautions may be required.
  • Intermittent need to distinguish among or interpret a variety of sensory inputs that occasionally may not be straightforward. (e.g., data entry)
