Job Description

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for the sale of Residential and Commercial building materials, specializing in Roofing materials. Your focus will be to develop new business and building relationships with existing customers while embodying our mission of Helping Our Customer Win.

Specific Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Maintain current account base and develop new accounts for revenue growth; promote our lines of products to retailers, distributors, building supply dealers, architects, builders, building owners, property managers, contractors and other potential customers.
  • Furnish management with all reports and paperwork relating to the operation and development of the sales territory, strategies, product information and other competitor information which may significantly impact Herman’s.
  • Provide information to management as it relates to pricing strategies in the territory, conduct training sessions for customers regarding product knowledge, contractor meetings, etc.
  • Attend customer shows, conventions and other industry related activities when requested by management; resolve customer complaints as assigned by the Director of Sales.
  • Identify with competitors, their product lines, and market practices, as well as industry trends.
  • Educate and promote growth of roofing category (emphasis on commercial products).
  • Ability to train individuals or small groups with emphasis on general product knowledge, application techniques and best practices.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree is highly preferred.
  • Ideal candidates will have demonstrated and proven sales experience with a background in the building material industry, roofing experience is highly preferred.
  • Slope Roofing and Commercial knowledge an asset but not required
  • Intermediate proficiency in the MS Office suite is needed.
  • Multi-channel experience selling to include distributor, contractor, lumber dealer, two step, architect, retail, & property management.
