About The Telfer School Of ManagementThe Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa is located in the heart of Ottawa and is the proud academic home of some 4,300 students,200 faculty members, over 100 staff members, and over 30,000 alumni.At Telfer, everything we do from teaching to research, to policy advice is firmly aligned with helping Canada reach its potential. We believe that better business practice means a better Canada and that a better Canada means a better world.Position PurposeReporting to the Director of Student Services Center, the incumbent will provide leadership to the Career Centre in the planning, organizational design and implementation of the Career Centre services, events and programs. Manages all operations effectively and efficiently of the Career Development Program to enhance the MBA and B.Com students’ career management skills and employment.In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Implements a project management culture and sets priorities for implementation and timelines of the Career Development Program: supervises the Career Centre team to ensure that all events, services and programs are well organized and reflect the professional image of the Telfer School of Management.
  • Manages the creation of all promotional material and communication tools in order to maximize the participation of students and employers, creating significant employment opportunities for Telfer students and alumni.
  • Continually analyses the employment market and maintains partnerships with local, national and international employers in order to build a strong supportive network of business professionals.
What You Will Bring
  • University degree preferably in business.
  • Knowledge of the Telfer School of Management Programs and the University of Ottawa regulations.
  • Excellent knowledge of public and private sector organizations, employment practices, trends for the future, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Knowledge and experience in generating new business and establish strong client relationships in the various business sectors that lead to an enhancement of career opportunities for students.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, Internet, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat programs.
  • Excellent knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Strong leadership qualities and supervisory abilities.
  • Ability to generate new business and establish strong relationships with different organizations.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies
  • Excellent customer service and project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and capacity to work under pressure and strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and in French (written and oral).
  • Schedule flexibility that will allow the employee to participate in different events and activities.
Bilingualism: French and English (spoken and written); to be considered for this position, candidates must be rated at the Low Advanced proficiency level or higher for both oral comprehension and reading comprehension in their second official language.
