Overview

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for an Operational Technology Architect to join the team. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Architecture & Project Services in the Information Services Unit (ISU), part of Pembina’s Corporate Services Division.


The Operational Technology (OT) Architect is a subject matter expert able to advise, recommend and provide leadership for enterprise scale pipeline and midstream facility Industrial Control Systems. The successful candidate is results driven and able to balance requirements from business, operational, security, and compliance stakeholders. The OT Architect is comfortable working with business and technical leaders to influence and contribute to “strategy to implementation” of DCS, SCADA, Data Historian and related network and cybersecurity, standards, processes, and systems. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Architecture and Project Services and will work with subject matter experts and architects in both business and technical teams.

Summary of Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide business outcome-driven guidance and advice to help business and IT leaders make the right technology investment with the optimal total cost of ownership;
  • Active participant in the creation and adoption of policies, standards, process, and procedures for DCS, SCADA and Corporate Historian projects and domains;
  • Actively promote and support teams in maturing their data practices (capture, store, contextualize, secure, and retain) for vast amounts of data collection;
  • Advise on process automation/optimization opportunities;
  • Develop target-state actionable recommendations in Operational Technologies and be comfortable in presenting to all levels of the organization;
  • Support growth in assessment of Operational Technology during asset integrations and due diligence of potential acquisitions;
  • Always curious with emerging trends and technologies relevant to sector, and support teams in their adoption of new technologies, and improve use of existing ones;
  • Active participant in Cyber Security strategy and implementations for all Operational Technology domains;
  • Identify and support opportunities for operations to better leverage IT capabilities or perform joint initiatives;
  • Participate in strategic vendor management and engagements; and
  • Participate in a diverse and Inclusive work environment.


Qualifications

  • College diploma or university degree in one of an engineering disciplines, computer science, information systems, or computer engineering or related experience;
  • Demonstratable work experience as an OT Architect or career progression to this role;
  • Demonstratable work experience in the Energy Industry;
  • Experience with DCS/SCADA solution architecture and implementations;
  • Experience with Site and Enterprise Data Historians;
  • Experience with OSI PI Historian and related OSI Tool Set;
  • Experience with Control System/OT/IOT specific networking and protocols;
  • Knowledge of OT cyber security best practices;
  • Direct experience in establishing OT Policies, Standards, Processes and Procedures;
  • Comfortable communicating to Executive and all levels of an organization;
  • Working knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws;
  • Working knowledge of Cloud and Azure specific OT Technologies;
  • Experience with integration to IT Technical Data Architecture and Analytics patterns;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, comfortable with communications to all Management and Executive levels;
  • Ability to present technical concepts and ideas to technical and business audiences; and
  • Ability to introduce and foster adoption of new ideas and ways of working.
