VIA Rail Canada Inc. is currently seeking On Train Service Attendants based in Vancouver.

People with experience in restaurants, the food and hospitality industry or airlines (flight attendant) are encouraged to apply!

Based in Vancouver, you will make the route of Vancouver-Winnipeg.

You will create an unforgettable experience for all our guests; this is often a once in a lifetime trip for our passengers so the personal touch and excellent service you will provide will ensure that they will enjoy their journey with us from start to finish. some of your duties will include:

• welcoming and guiding them to their cabin or seat
• giving precise safety instructions to all guests
• helping guests with their carry-on luggage as well as their stored baggage while on board and upon detraining
• serving meals and beverages
• selling snacks and refreshments in our Take Out Café
• ensuring the tidiness and cleanliness of the bedrooms and work areas at all times

Some important pragmatic details about the job:

PERMANENT SEASONAL POSITION
From March until October 2022 with possibility of being called back for the following year.

SCHEDULE
You are available to work:

• on variable schedule including weekends and holidays and on call (no guaranteed hours)
• for extended periods (approx. 5-6 days) away from home

TRAINING
You will follow a seven-week training session which must be successfully completed before obtaining the position.

SALARY
$23.57/hour

Requirements :

You are well-suited for this challenge if you:

• have a strong ability to communicate in English and French
• believe you can deliver a world class guest experience and anticipate guests’ needs
• possess a High School Diploma
• have a minimum of one year of customer service experience, ideally as a server in a restaurant or as a flight attendant
• have exceptional physical and emotional stamina with the ability to work long days
• must be physically able to lift weights up to 23kg
