650 CKOM is a family-owned, News Talk institution in the heart of central Saskatchewan that is seeking a News Director. You will lead a passionate award-winning team that builds its reputation on breaking news with stories that focus on our diverse community.
You will lead a team that seeks to tell memorable stories about current issues through the people who live here, stories that don’t just recycle news releases.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
- Have at least five years of experience and two years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Demonstrate strong news judgment and an ability to respond quickly to a story’s potential.
- Recognize breaking news, keep a calm head under pressure and be someone who can lead by example.
- Believe in the importance of great storytelling, through words and use of sound.
- Understand how to use social media strategically to access, gather and disseminate news.
- Be an enthusiastic colleague who embraces change and is ready to champion our values of journalism and storytelling.
