About The Medical Writer Role

We’re seeking a Medical Writer to adapt, create, and edit copy for pharmaceutical and medical device clients, for both medical communication and commercial purposes. Responsibilities also include preparing and submitting content for medical/legal/regulatory review.

Day-to-day, the medical writer will work closely with the INVIVO team to provide writing and editorial support to new and ongoing projects. Projects at INVIVO are varied, ranging from applications for mobile devices, e-learning, conference exhibits, to games; all within the healthcare space.

About You

You stay on top of trends in the medical/scientific community. You love rolling up your sleeves and taking projects from start to finish. You have an eye for detail and can accurately convey complex information in a simple way. You are naturally curious, a life-long learner and have a strong interest in health and medicine. You are passionate about providing medical insights, supplying creative ideas, and developing high quality content that allows you to use scientific/medical knowledge and demonstrate your writing skills.

Responsibilities
  • Develop medical and scientific copy, research and referencing as required. These include peer-reviewed scientific communications, slide decks, key educator materials, and copy decks for digital applications.
  • Perform medical literature research and data analysis, to support medical writing and prepare for defense in review.
  • Edit copy to correct errors of spelling, grammar and punctuation, ensure stylistic consistency, enhance readability, and ensure copy meets branding and referencing requirements.
  • Work within copy deck formats that appropriately record changes, style decisions, source materials, and referencing requirements.
  • Prepare and submit content for medical/legal/regulatory review in client submission/referencing systems.
  • Participate in all client calls/correspondence relating to content approval; record and clarify all content change requests.
  • Conduct end-to-end validation of the content of projects, reporting and resolving issues with the Account Supervisor and/or Project Manager and appropriate departments.
  • Collaborate with the User Experience team to establish organization and flow of content.
  • Review IA/wires/functional spec for branding, flow, and for correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and control of editorial standards and workflow optimization.

Capability Requirements – Education, Skills & E Xperience
  • Advanced degree in life sciences (MSc, PhD, PharmD, or MD required).
  • 3-5 years of relevant medical information, communications, technical or instructional design, or marketing writing experience (agency, pharmaceutical or independent) preferred.
  • Experience across disease indications with experience in rare diseases preferred.
  • Prior experience in digital media and eLearning required (classroom-training is a bonus)
  • Exemplary written, verbal, analytical, and editing skills.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized individual.
  • Naturally inquisitive and attentive individual.
  • Enjoys challenge of interweaving multiple tasks within a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills.
