Do you have what it takes to break into the Pharmaceutical industry?

Ashfield is looking for a dynamic individual with excellent customer service skills and attention to detail to provide medical product information and identify adverse events and product complaints over the phone. The candidate will be representing clients on a variety of medical and commercial products via inbound and outbound calls. The Medical Information Specialist reports to Medical Information Team Manager. This is a head office-based role. The role is temporarily remote due to COVID-19.

Job Purpose:
Representing client on a variety of medical or commercial projects via inbound/outbound telecommunication which may include:

  • Provide drug/medical device product information
  • Identify adverse events and product complaints as outlined by the client guidelines
  • Collect demographic data and disposition for product, sample and literature fulfilment

Key Objectives:

  • Provide high quality, balanced and timely information to requests for medical information from internal and external partners
  • Develop and maintain a current knowledge of product and disease state
  • Maintain excellent quality and productivity standards for all client programs; adhere to program guidelines
  • Firm knowledge and understanding on Adverse Events and PQC detection and reporting requirements in accordance to Ashfield procedures and client specified instructions, as necessary
  • Accurately collect information required by individual programs and correctly capture in specific program databases
  • Weekends/holidays/vacations coverage regarding AEs/PQCs and urgent inquiries
  • Monthly and Quarterly Report creation: KPIs, question types/therapeutic areas, question types per molecule and trends, hot topics.
  • Update and maintenance of the medical Information website when applicable
  • Prepare the Internal Medical Information communication such as for Product Monograph update as per process
  • Attend Global Medical Information meetings and report the key information provided when applicable
  • Converse with inquiries in an empathetic manner and facilitate the callers in their ability to understand medical terminology, as needed
  • Adhere to all company policies and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Must safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality by following the guidelines set forth in the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, client and Ashfield policies (patient privacy)

Job Holder Specification:

  • BA, BS, or BSN is required; advanced degree is preferred
  • Fluently Bilingual in French and English (oral and written)
  • Minimum of 2 years of related job experience; 1-2 years of Drug/Medical Information experience is an asset
  • Effective communication and tele-management skills
  • Knowledge of Health Canada regulations for adverse event reporting
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, can navigate through different systems
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to wok effectively in a team environment
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet scheduling and organizational needs
