Who we are

Oneka Technologies, a growing company from Sherbrooke, Canada, with operation sites in Florida and Chile, has the mission to make the oceans a sustainable, accessible and affordable source of fresh water. To achieve this, the Oneka team has developed a technology that produces potable water from desalination buoys powered exclusively by wave energy. This technology will enable coastal communities and industries to obtain fresh water produced in an environmentally friendly and economical manner.

Job description

As part of a growing design team, the drafter-designer is responsible for designing various components of Oneka’s unique desalination systems. This includes structural, hydraulic, and mechanical design under the supervision of engineers. In addition, the drafter-designer supports the assembly of the systems he/she has worked on allowing quick feedback on design choices. The position includes several elements such as:

  • Designing products for commercialization;
  • Drafting technical drawing for parts and assemblies;
  • Determining geometric and dimensional tolerances;
  • Getting involved in the assembly and manufacturing of new parts and systems (Hands-on).

Requirements & desired profile

  • Desire to have a real impact on the future of our planet;
  • Extensive experience and interest in working in CAD (3D Modeling and associated technical drawings);
  • Rigor and experience in managing revisions;
  • Holder of a DEC, AEC or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent;
  • Excellent conceptual skills;
  • Functional French;
  • Commitment, empathy, creativity and rigor.

Possible projects include:

  • Hydraulics;
  • Power Take-Off mechanism (PTO);
  • Assembly and integration;
  • Marine anchors and systems.

Assets:

  • Knowledge of marine environment;
  • Skilled in Fusion 360 software;
  • Workshop experience (mechanical).
