We’re looking for a Software Development Manager with motivation and energy, who cares for their team, to lead the team and collaborate with other functions in pursuit of a customer-focused mission..
We work with Python, TypeScript, PHP, Git, Google Cloud Platform : GKE, Cloud Storage, Cloud Build. We pursue code quality and ship frequently in an infrastructure built on code.

About the role:
You’ll report to the Director of Engineering. Your day-to-day work will be with one to two project teams where you’ll take a collaborative approach to leading development of large features and application architectures. Our teams are focused on solving problems for our main customers : Readers, Editorial, Analytics, Content Syndication, Advertisers. You’ll also be involved in tooling and strategy work that cuts across all departmental projects.

What you’ll do:

• Shape implementation plans, estimate work, and help build project plans
• Manage your team: staff, coach, give feedback, and train.
• Provide transparency on status and progress.
• Be hands-on for Proof of Concept and when the context requires it.
• Work with stakeholders, other functions of the Product and Development team : Product, Operations, DevOps, QA, Designers as well as other departments
• Help shape the roadmaps by contributing to OKRs

You have:

• 5+ years of coding experience.
• 2+ years managing developers
• Full stack development knowledge in Javascript (Typescript), Python (Django), ElasticSearch and relational DBs (PostgreSQL or similar).
• Experience engaging with the entire SDLC, from concept to support.
• A deep understanding of best coding practices, unit testing, version control, and automation.
• The ability to take a step back in your routine and understand the larger company goals.

Bonus points for:

• Experience in the publishing industry.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Promoting observability and high reliability.
• Experience with AWS and GCP on Build tools, Buckets, Containers.
• Knowledge of accessibility (WCAG2)
