Overview:

The ECAN Logistics and Process Analytics Manager is responsible for planning and executing process optimization and cost saving efforts pertaining to Eastern Canada’s logistics business, and supports the development, execution, and measurement of initiatives to support the long term Eastern Canada Aggregates Logistics strategy.
Responsibilities:

Strategy and Process
  • The ECAN Logistics Process and Analytics Manager assists in development and execution of the ECAN Aggregates Logistics strategy in collaboration with the market Logistics managers.
  • This person will co-lead the development and implementation of new contract models, and lead the development of digital tools and bidding platforms to support cost optimization.
  • This person will also understand the logistics market dynamics, analyze and consolidate market trends, and suggest opportunities for growth and synergies.

Performance Optimization and Analysis
  • The ECAN Logistics and Process Analytics Manager coordinates the effective implementation and use of the ECAN TMS system, reports on performance KPIs, and recommends optimization opportunities based on data analysis.
  • This positon is also accountable to ensure data integrity across markets.

Scope 3
  • The ECAN Logistics and Process Analytics Manager supports reporting and compliance for Lafarge’s Scope 3 emissions program.

Relationship with Others
  • Interacts with ECAN Commercial Performance manager, local market Logistics managers and teams, local market Commercial Managers, and Procurement.
  • Regular interaction with Lafarge IT team, external software providers, and external haul service providers.
  • Regular interaction with the General Management team and occasionally the product line Vice President.

Specific Accountabilities:

Strategy and Process:

  • Collaborates with the ECAN Logistics and Commercial Performance manager in the development of the ECAN logistics strategy
  • Supports the implementation of the ECAN Logistics strategy in collaboration with the market Logistic managers, aligning expectations on the implementation of initiatives, tools, and operational efficiency targets
  • Co-leads the implementation of the ECAN Logistics core fleet initiative, models target scale and profitability ambitions by market, defines and tracks key utilization and profitability variables and metrics.
  • Supports the development of the terms and conditions of the ECAN Core fleet, including qualification criteria, reward and management structure and works with Procurement to develop contractual structure and identify potential incentives
  • Leads the development of digital tools and bidding platforms aiming for cost and margin optimization by route, project and segment, including the optimization and evolution of our TMS systems. Continuous enhancement and improvement of digital and analytical tools.
  • Understands, analyzes, and consolidates market data and trends, anticipates economic drivers, growth opportunities and synergies
  • Supports markets in zone definition and target margins
  • Supports in the development, forecasting and tracking of Scope 3 emissions actions and reporting

Performance optimization and Analysis:

  • Coordinates the effective implementation and use of the ECAN TMS system
  • Consolidates, analyzes and prepares periodic reports on market logistics performance KPI including, among others, site turnaround times, delivered %, average cost per ton, profitability by market, zones and customer segment, margin mapping by customer, backhaul %, etc.
  • Provides optimization recommendations related among others to site turnaround times, price negotiation opportunities, route optimization
  • Tracks and validates data integrity and reliability by market and identifies and resolve issues across markets
  • Map core fleet performance, routes, and propose recommended use and optimization opportunities
  • Consolidates and reports Scope 3 targets
Dimensions
  • This position reports to the ECAN Commercial and Logistics Performance Manager.
  • There is $60M+ outbound freight costs annually and it supports 90 active sites across Ontario and Quebec.
Qualifications:

Education, Skills & Experience
  • An undergraduate degree in business, engineering, or construction management, logistics or supply chain management
  • 3-5+ years logistics industry experience
  • Expert understanding of logistics markets, optimization, execution and theory; knowledge of industry and regulatory requirements
  • Experience using SAP
  • Understanding of digital tools - Programing and TMS experience a strong asset
