Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currently recruiting for a Junior Project Controls Specialist to join any of our offices in GTA. Ideally based in Oakville, Richmond Hill or Burlington, ON.

Reporting to the Business Services Manager, candidate will be responsible in providing support to ongoing projects in Transportation and Water group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review project proposal, original budget and compere to current revision and identify / investigate changes
  • Collect initial documents, confirm proper approvals and create WBS for the project setup
    Compare staff rates in proposal to actual rates on project
  • Work with project managers to find and suggest possible corrective measures to maintain cost within targeted budget
  • Prepare / Review cost reports/billing packages as required
  • Review subcontract budget vs. actual cost and advise for current and expected overruns
  • Support project controls effort in monitor and minimize project variances and overruns
  • Advise project managers and project staff for effort and expenditures misallocations
  • Control and Maintain project charges to keep them within proposal and original targeted amounts
  • Identify project overruns and suggest corrective actions
  • Preparing and issuing of change management documents
  • Ensuring projects are paid in accordance to contracts
Skills / Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary, college or BSc. In engineering, accounting, finance, business or project administration
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in project controls, cost control, financial administration
  • Experience with cost analysis and control
  • Demonstrated understanding the engineering business and work environment
  • Applied knowledge of the “Earned Value” principles
  • Applied knowledge of Project Management and Project Controls principles, including experience with concepts of PMBOK
  • Ability to produce read and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports
  • Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost control
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks
  • Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel
