BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), which owns and operates the award-winning Vancouver Convention Centre and BC Palace is hiring a Junior Accountant, Accounts Payableto join their finance team for a 12 month contract.

The Junior Accountant, Accounts Payable plays an integral role in maintaining vendor relationships by ensuring timely and accurate payments. This position reports to the Senior Accountant, Accounts Payable and will complete payments and control expenses by receiving, verifying, processing, and reconciling invoices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives invoices submitted by vendors and department managers and reviews for accuracy.
  • Enters invoices in a timely manner into the Event Business Management Software (EBMS).
  • Allocates expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centres.
  • Monitors payment terms and discount opportunities presented by vendors.
  • Schedules and prepares cheques and other forms of payment.
  • Posts and reconciles credit card payments to vendor accounts.
  • Pays employee expenses as requested through manager approved expense reports.
  • Sets up new vendors.
  • Manages Finance petty cash and records monthly transactions.
  • Assists with ad-hoc accounting duties and special projects as requested.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of accounting experience, preferably in Accounts Payables.
  • Proven track record of successfully conceptualizing, managing and completing business improvement projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook.

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma in Accounting or relevant experience
