Position title: IT Systems Coordinator
Position type: Full-time
Location:Vancouver or Victoria office
Reports to:Operations Manager
Supervised by: Operations Manager or Delegate
Salary: $50,000 *(see compensation for explanation of additional value)

Background:

We have a growing team of approximately 65 professionals, and offices in Victoria, Vancouver, and Edmonton. The successful candidate will work alongside other professionals in a fast-paced, exciting, and professional work environment.

Job Duties:
A strong IT Systems coordinator will be able to solve technological problems on a daily basis. Some of the main duties and responsibilities a Technical Support Specialist may perform include:

  • Manage IT capital purchases and plan inventory and logistics of hardware for Firelight employees.
  • Provide logistical support with coordination of technology tools for both new hires and existing team.
  • Diagnose issues over the phone or by email, and provide necessary feedback to aid the end user in rectifying technological problems. Provide backup solutions wherever necessary.
  • Provide training sessions to new hires for hardware and software.
  • Inform and recommend IT policy and procedures as Firelight grows.
  • Set up an employee help/desk/ticket system to expedite troubleshooting.
  • Manage information, data, and documents following established procedures.
  • Offboard IT components and assess capital value.
  • Coordinate donation or sale of old equipment.
  • Send equipment to offices and remote staff.
  • Assist Finance in the RFP process for HRIS and Finance software purchase.
  • Assist GIS/Mapping team as needed with IT support needs.
  • Perform project management and change management on new software.
  • Manage software licenses.
  • Perform server maintenance.

Experience Requirements:
A successful IT Systems Coordinator candidate will be extremely tech-savvy. They should have experience in computer and information systems, and experience in customer service management. Experience in teaching or training adults in tech is considered a strong asset for any candidate. Additionally, the most successful candidates will also have experience and knowledge of Indigenous communities. Candidates from indigenous backgrounds will be preferred. In addition we will be looking for the following:

  • Minimum 2 year diploma in IT-related area as well as a minimum of two years working in an IT specialist role
  • In-depth knowledge of a wide range of software and hardware products
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment that includes diverse interests, including First Nations and their members.
  • Strong attention to detail and high proficiency with information management systems and protocols.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Compensation, perks and benefits

  • Starting Salary $46,000
  • 4 day workweek (Monday to Thursday, 32 hours)
  • Benefits after probation period (3 months)
