Position Summary:

The IT Manager’s role is to supervise and ensure the efficient operation of the company’s network, servers, databases, and equipment. This includes managing the IT staff responsible for monitoring and diagnosing network and hardware problems. The IT Manager will also work closely with the IT executive staff and decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Strategy & Planning

  • Lead IT Department operational planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources
  • Ensure the efficient utilization of IT resources – including personnel and equipment – across the organization.
  • Oversee all reports and documentation related to network and systems operations.
  • Develop maintenance schedules for network and systems equipment.
  • Conduct system feasibility studies and testing.
  • Develop and implement all functional policies and procedures, including those for network architecture, standards, purchasing, and service provision.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of IT systems, including networks, data centers, servers, PCs, operating systems, and associated hardware.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Develop requests for proposal.
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.

Operational Management

  • Practice asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
  • Oversee operations-related projects and project portfolio.
  • Assist in the provisioning of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including: servers, telecommunication, LANs, WANs, Internet, security, wireless implementations, etc.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent infrastructure activities

Qualifications: Education & Certification

  • University degree or college diploma in the field of computer science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
  • Steady advancement in learning and certifications.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience managing and delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence.
  • Exceptional knowledge of service delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.
  • Experience successfully leading an IT team.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware.
  • Knowledge of current protocols and standards.
  • Application support experience with cloud (Azure, M365) and on premise applications primarily in a Microsoft stack

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Hyrbrid work arrangement available with 50/50 remote/office.
  • On-call availability for 5 days per month.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Some physical effort required (i.e. some lifting of supplies and material).
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • Long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
  • Some exposure to warehouse environment.
  • On occasion work hours can include weekend and evening work
