Intermediate NOC Technician

As one of Sunwire’s highly skilled Network Operations Technicians, you will be part of the NOC team that monitors, maintains, configures, documents, and troubleshoots a high volume of network devices on our expansive telecommunications network. Some examples of infrastructure are:

- Firewalls

- Core network and devices

- Servers

- Wireless systems

- VoIP systems

- Internet of things devices

- Virtual machines (VMs)

- Databases

- Software and services (internal and external)

The main goal is to proactively monitor, maintain, and manage the network to ensure 99.999% uptime and employ investigative and troubleshooting incident management skills when problems arise.

JOB DUTIES: (Includes but is not limited to)

- Monitoring the company network health

- Responding to events, issues, and downtime

- Troubleshooting connectivity issues

- Ensure the network remains secure

- Managing firewalls

- Monitoring communication services, including email, digital video, and VoIP

- Optimizing network performance

- Deploying remote software installations

- Managing and deploying software patches

- Backing up and storing data, including risk and compliance purposes

- Create/update and document network topography

- Ensure our Service Levels are always met

- Plan and execute change management requests as needed

- Ensure the installation of firmware patches and updates to all network devices and software are performed in a timely manner.

- Communication with customers, and/or internal staff to report or resolve system related or network issues

- Ensure all documentation is kept current and available to the entire team

- Administer all servers and services related to any of our service offerings

- Ensure proper allocation, management, and documentation of power loads and distribution for server rooms

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFICIENCIES:

- VoIP (Asterisk, OpenSER/OpenSIPs, Kamailio, SIP, SBC)

- SMS (Kannel SMSC)

- Virtualization (Linux [libvirt, KVM, QEMU], VMWare, Scale, Ceph)

- Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, iptables, Apache, Nginx, Bind, MySQL, eJabberd, Radius, heartbeat, mdadm)

- IPTV (ffmpeg, HLS streaming, multicast)

- FreeBSD

- Hardware (custom build PC and servers, RAID setup)

- Windows server (OpenVPN and general system administration)

- Layer1/2 (Wavelengths, LAG, MLAG, QnQ, VLANs)

- Layer3 (static routes, OSPF, BGP peering)

- Next-Hop redundancy (HSRP, VARP)

- Tunnel protocols: L2TP, PPPoE, IPSEC

- Voice TDM (PRI/T1)

- AudioCodes SBC

- Tshark/wireshark tools

- Power: UPS, power load calculations

- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, initiative and leadership abilities.

- Effective analytical, planning, organizational, and documentation skills.

- Must be able to perform planned and unplanned tasks after hours when required.

- Must be able to be part of the emergency after-hours on-call rotation

- Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving.

- Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment.

- Must have a valid driver’s license and able to perform on-site services.

- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
