Our Opportunity

We are looking for new talent to join us as we work towards engineering a better and more sustainable future. As the successful candidate, you will assist with developing electrical power, instrumentation & control systems for small to large multi-disciplinary projects for a variety of clients. This position requires a wide range of skillsets and experience including:

• Field audits
• Plant design
• Preliminary calculations
• 3D modelling
• Detailed design drawings and deliverables

You will perform assignments with independent judgement and a high degree of accuracy while maintaining the consistency of drawings with other departments. Additionally, you will proactively look for ways to improve workflows and tools that will benefit yourself, your team members and Allnorth’s project execution efficiency.

Common deliverables include:

• Single line diagrams
• Equipment lists, cable schedules & BOMs
• Grounding and lighting layouts
• Schematic and interconnection diagrams
• Cable tray and equipment layouts
• Cable block diagrams
• Instrument loop sheets and control panel layouts

This role includes site time as required, for participation in data gathering, meetings, audits, construction support, commissioning and start-up.

Within our medium-sized Company, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects, taking on different design roles and responsibilities. This will allow you to tackle new opportunities and gain experience in many different aspects of industrial electrical, instrumentation and controls design.

Using your organizational and communication skills, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and project team members to ensure project completion within allotted schedules and budgets, and to high quality standards. You will also continually foster and grow strong relationships to delight our clients.

Requirements

You are a capable and well-rounded individual with a passion for creative solutions. You love attending to the details and collaborating with others. Your qualifications for this role should cover the following bases:

• Engineering Technology diploma in electrical power and industrial controls
• Minimum 7 years of experience in an industrial design and construction environment
• Knowledgeable with the Canadian Electrical Code & National Electrical Code
• Proficient in Schematic Design (AutoCAD). 3D Design (Plant 3D; ElecDes) is a benefit
• Excellent communication skills
• Technical competence and attention to detail
• Experience in the Pulp & Paper industry is an asset
