Your Opportunity:

As a member of our nursing care team, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our clients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct client care. Client care may include assisting clients with activities of daily living, treatments and treatment plans, and other nursing team related activities.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA) - Nursing Attendant, you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate from an approved educational program OR must complete a pre-service manual during orientation and agree to enroll in an AHS recognized HCA certification program within 60 days of start date and complete within 18 months. A Nursing Attendant, currently employed within the region, must be a graduate from an approved educational program OR be assessed, relative to client needs, as having competency (knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes) compatible with the competencies outlined in the Alberta Provincial Curriculum for Health Care Aides. Qualifications: Recent experience plus ability to communicate effectively with the client population being served. Able to perform duties that involve periods of physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting weights up to 25 kg. Basic Life Support for Health care Providers Level C (as per unit requirements).
