Arcadis Canada is seeking a Hazardous Materials Technical Specialist to join our team in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The successful candidate will co-ordinate and execute activities assigned by Project Managers pertaining to the design, implementation and management of hazardous materials assessment and abatement projects and occupational health exposure assessments. This includes conducting site visits and inspections, monitoring, and supervising remediation activities, and preparing field notes. Practical experience conducting designated substance surveys preferred, not required. Arcadis will provide training and mentorship to build skill sets with career progression.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist project managers with assessment, design, and oversight of hazardous materials abatement projects
  • Conduct site investigations for hazardous materials including – mold (mould), asbestos, lead, etc.
  • Conduct indoor air quality assessments, noise assessments, radon monitoring and worker exposure assessments
  • Completion of designated substance surveys
  • Manage field notes and prepare technical reports

Key Attributes/Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Availability to work some evenings and/or weekends
  • Availability to travel valid driver’s licence required

Qualifications
Required Qualification:

  • Technical Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science, Building Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, Occupational Health and Safety, Construction-related field or related field.
  • Practical experience conducting designated substance surveys preferred, not required. Arcadis will provide training and mentorship to build skill sets with career progression.

  • This is a Greater Toronto Area, Ontario based position.
