FINANCIAL ANALYST

The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Financial Services Branch as a Financial Analyst in Fredericton.

The goal of Financial Services is to provide timely and accurate financial consultation and client services to various programs within the Department of Health and to our stakeholders in the Health System.

The successful candidate will have a strong desire to dig deeper into processes, procedures and financial and statistical data to provide valuable analysis and advice to the Medicare program.

The incumbent will also:

  • analyze financial and budgetary impacts of program proposals, and provide recommendations to management;
  • provide program with meaningful financial analysis to support decision making;
  • monitor and analyze trends in billings to Medicare;
  • prepare monthly accruals, financial reports and forecasting;
  • establish relationships with our partners and internal stakeholders;
  • participate in improvement initiatives to streamline reporting procedures.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: University Degree in Business Administration or a related discipline and five (5) years of related work experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. A CPA designation is also required.

A candidate who meets the essential qualifications, except for the CPA designation, may be considered if they demonstrate on their application that they are working towards their CPA designation.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle Financials or Fusion;
  • Knowledge of healthcare information systems.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:The successful candidate will possess the following behavioral competencies:

  • Client Service Orientation.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:The successful candidate will possess the following technical competencies:

  • Knowledge of accounting and financial principles;
  • Ability to use office technology, software and applications (MS Word and Excel).
