To help fulfill our mission, LOFT is hiring a Financial Analyst.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for the detailed preparation of the annual corporate

budget and for preparing budget submissions critical in securing and maintaining funding
for the various programs within the corporation. Monitoring program expenditures in
comparison to detailed budgets on a regular basis to ensure programs are operating within

their financial means is an important function which is necessary to ensure the continuing
financial stability of the Corporation.

What You Will Do:


1. Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of the annual corporate budget for

presentation to Board of Directors for approval.

2. Prepare quarterly salary and hourly breakdowns by programs for government reports.

3. Prepare numerous annual budgets, year-end and other periodic reports as required by
major funding sources for senior management review; identify financial requirements

associated with each grant to ensure compliance is possible.
4. Ensure all reporting deadlines (annual, semi-annual, quarterly, monthly) as required by

our various grantors are met; external audits for a variety of special reports are arranged
on a timely basis and reports requiring board approval are prepared in time to meet
grantor deadlines.

5. Evaluate financial impact with respect to funding increases/decreases for review by the
Finance Manager and the Director of Finance.

6. Prepare financial projections with respect to corporate and/or program restructuring
proposals in collaboration with the Director of Finance, Managers and/or Program
Directors.

7. Review every operating budget on a monthly basis comparing actual performance to
budget and analyses variances and identifies and escalates problem areas.

8. Assist in the preparation of a quarterly financial forecast and year end reports for
external audit purposes.

9. Balance all of the Funds to generate a corporate balance sheet which is in accordance

with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
10.Prepare Charity Information Returns required by the Canada Customs and Revenue

Agency.
11.Act as a backfill to the Accounting Manager and Payroll Analyst position as necessary.


What You Bring:

Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in commerce, finance or business

administration.
Enrolment in a program leading to a recognized accounting designation

(CMA, CGA, or CA).
Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
Proficiency in using spreadsheet and word-processing applications; particularly MS

Office Applications.
Knowledge of Great Plains Dynamics and FRX software applications an asset.

Excellent analytical skills required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Excellent Time Management Skills – deadline oriented.

Experience or interest in working within a non-profit social services environment.
Understanding of cultural competency and anti-oppression framework.

Reflective of a multi-barriered group, as serviced by the program, a strong asset.
