Finance Coordinator

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Finance and Operations (SDFO), the Finance Coordinator maintains all the detailed financial records and performs administrative duties that support End Homelessness Winnipeg in managing its finances in a manner that is responsible and consistent with its commitment to sound financial stewardship, and respect for the organization’s agreements and all applicable laws.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Finance Coordinator include:

· Provide financial and administrative support to the SDFO

· Maintain records to ensure that payroll is accurate, process biweekly payroll, prepare payments for statutory remittances and benefit plans, and review the accuracy of payroll data prior to T4s (and T4As) and ROE’s being prepared

· Review payment requests, enter/post invoice and payment details, and process payments including those to organizations receiving Reaching Home sub-project funding and individuals receiving CMHB rent assist

· Enter/post invoices and follow up on the collection of outstanding accounts. Process and enter the receipt of funding agreement payments, donations, and other receivables

· Oversee daily cash management, including petty cash and bank deposits

· Prepare monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and other general ledger accounts

· Prepare and post monthly journal entries (payroll, petty cash, expenses, accruals, etc.)

· Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports

· Assist SDFO with the preparation of the annual budgets

· Coordinate and prepare all year end working papers and documentation for auditors, and act as a main contact during the audit process

· Prepare GST, WCB and HET returns and the T3010 charity return in consultation with the SDFO

· Prepare reports for the Audit Committee and attend Audit Committee meetings

· Prepare agendas, arrange meetings, and record notes for management meetings

· Assist management team and all staff with administrative functions, finance inquiries

· Monitor and manage inventory of office and administrative supplies for the organization

· Work with a variety of resources to ensure ongoing facilities management including furnishings and equipment, office maintenance, parking, procurement, leases, and the administration of End Homelessness Winnipeg’s records and documents

· Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, partners, and funders to address homelessness in Winnipeg

You are passionate about ending homelessness and have an in-depth understanding of homelessness and housing, as well as the needs of particularly vulnerable and over-represented populations and the issues affecting many homeless and low-income people. You also possess the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and related experience:

· As EHW is committed to reconciliation and the inclusion of an Indigenous world view, experience with the practice of Indigenous culture, history, knowledge systems, and Indigenous community relationship building practices and protocols is required

· An accounting degree/certificate is desirable and enrollment in the CPA program or a CPA designation is considered an asset. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered

· Working knowledge of financial accounting principles

· A minimum of two years’ full cycle accounting experience preferably in a non-profit/charitable organization

· Experience using accounting software and payroll programs

· Experience designing and preparing financial statements and reports

· Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, and forecasting

· Knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices

· Intermediate to advanced skill using Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

· Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

· Integrity, accountability, and ability to protect confidentiality

· Ability to communicate effectively in conversations and in written reports and correspondence

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to make good decisions and work collaboratively

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks to meet deadlines

This is a full-time, permanent, non-unionized position.

Salary range: $61,812 – $71,657 depending on qualifications and experience.
